Event Planner Fall 2020
Through my fall 2020 theatre events management class I alongside my fellow event planners, Gianna Carter and Grace Moebes, created a virtual Mental Health Awareness Festival. We wanted to bring awareness to mental health especially now with the given circumstances. Our mission is to inform and support students with ways to combat mental health issues by starting an open minded conversation and encouraging creativity and self-expression in a sustainable way. We collaborated with professionals and clubs throughout Auburn University's campus to ensure we were giving out correct information towards mental health and involving all students at our event. Some of our partners included: Auburn University Theatre, The Office of Sustainability, The Office of Health Promotion and Wellness Services, Auburn University Student Counseling and Psychological Services, CHAARG, and AU Players. This virtual event included activities such as rock painting, cooking tutorials, workout routines, beading sessions, make your own stress ball, sharing circles, and a presentation from our partners. Additionally, we provided craft kits that our attendees could RSVP for that included materials for all the arts and crafts workshops.
On the events management team, I took charge of the marketing aspect. I created the Mental Health AF Instagram and made most of the graphics. Since I am also the president to AU Players, that was a connection where we sought volunteers for our event. Additionally, I communicated with many of our partners to get the materials needed for the craft kits we put together for the attendees.
